What is Prophecy

Prophet, prophets and prophesy are referenced over 500 times in Scripture. Compared with the rest of the gifts you will see this far outweighs the rest.

A Prophet is a person who hears, sees, smells, tastes, feels the heart, knows the mind, plans, and nature of God and the kingdom of heaven.

What is prophecy? The ability to hear what God is communicating and then express the words, the will, the way the heart and the mind of God.  It’s simply hearing from God and speaking to man or bringing God’s message to individuals, cities, nations, organizations and creation.

Prophecy is the only gift that our Heavenly Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit give to God's people to communicate with us, equip and empower us. If we are going to please God and be used by Him we do need to hear what He is saying to us.  Only then can we be in the right place, with the right people, doing the right thing, at the right time, to be vessels to bring heaven to earth.

What is a prophet?  A Prophet is a mouthpiece for the Lord - Jeremiah 15:19 Ampl.

Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord does nothing without revealing his plans to his servants the prophets.

John 15:15-17 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.  This is my command: Love each other.

Isaiah 11:2 The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him — the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord.
